E-commerce site with Joomla?

Is it possible? i mean creating an e-commerce site with joomla, such as ebay ,some time ago i  really wanted to do this , i learned alot of HTML and Dreamweaver but it was just too much , too complicated and i couldn't pull this through ( didnt knew about joomla by then )
Right now i own a Joomla site and seeing the customizing capabilities i tought maybe , just MAYBE you could do such a site using Joomla , not as big as ebay but similar , is it possibe? what do you think? ( im thinking of remaking that project . )
