When I started my first website using Joomla platform, I post it on webmaster forums to get feedback from other webmasters. And yeah, I got useful advice from them and I use it to redesign me website. It looks much better now (than before, not than other website LOL). So, it is necessary to get others' opinion before redesign your website.

Hi arguy..thanks that really helps too..I mean getting feedback from other websites, its like a constructive criticism I think..in getting others opinion did you in some way incorporate yours too? or is it totally from a third party...?

One determining factor as well besides seeking advice, whether or not you have to redesign your website, is to see if people in your site are staying longer or not.

That is a good idea too..but I am curious on how we may able to know how long does a visitor visits our website.. do you know of any tools that can help us determine those things?
