I see people posting in forums everyday about how they had their site redesigned and lost all their rankings in the search engines.

Is this true? I am looking to redesign my website and i am a little bit worried.

Please advise

Google likes sites that are updated and as long as you don't change page names, keep links readable by the search engines and good titles and meta tags on the pages you should see an increase in traffic and not a decrease.

that is a pretty good tips! so i guess its not necessary to redesign just an updates may do the trick! just curious on one thing what are the factors that search engines will not be able to read our links?

Hmmm , as in 2'nd post , Redesigning should not be a problem at all , you'll get only +++ just don't rename ANYTHIng and keep it like it was before , different skin and arrangement wouldn't harm , Good luck with your site! Hope i helped

Never give up!

Yes, redesigning your website is perfectly fine. You just need to get all the links unchanged. It could be the reason why their websites lost their rankings.

You can redesign it. Just don't reinvent it. You can always add, but if you take too much away, Google thinks it's a workaround the sandbox/natural index process. Google *LOVES* when you add. Adding makes a site look more dynamic and therefore current.
